Northwesterly view from the property. Rice Creek canyon in mid-view, with the Salmon/Snake Rivers and Oregon beyond.

This property features a 1,500 square foot, two-story house framed and covered for weather protection. The interior is built to reveal beams, as in a timber-frame house. In addition there's a two-story outbuilding the owner used while building the house. The septic system is installed and permitted. Electric and phone lines are on the property less than 200 yards from the house.

The land lies between the Snake and Salmon Rivers at about 4,800' elevation. There are wonderful westerly views, with Oregon and Washington in the background. To the east you can see the mountains of the Salmon R. canyon.

The wildlife here is incredible: elk, moose, mule deer, whitetails, black bear, cougar, bobcat, coyote, maybe even a wolf. Lots of upland game birds, too.

The house is nicely nestled in a grove of pines.

View to the east, toward the Salmon River canyon and White Bird.
This plat shows the parcel's shape and dimensions and the location of the house and power line. There's a pole 600' from the house. The local power company estimated the cost would be about $3,000, plus the ditch.

The site is 11 miles from the Salmon River bridge at White Bird, with access by good gravel road. Joseph Road (called Doumecq on the plat) is the main access from either White Bird or Cottonwood. The property is on a cross road called Elk Run, which is maintained by the Twin River Ranch association. It is possible that you could get snowed in for a winter day or two, but that would be a rare case. There are two routes to the nearby population centers on US-95.

Find this property on Google Earth by entering the following in the "Fly to" box: N 45° 47' 40", W 116° 22' 48". You should be able to see the whitish-colored roof of the house in the trees.

The hunting here is fabulous. Besides your own little preserve there are state and BLM lands nearby and millions of acres of National Forest. And don't forget about the fishing. You'll be only minutes away from the Salmon River, in which there are great runs of steelhead and salmon. Also this wild river holds rainbow trout, smallmouth bass and sturgeon.
